A continuation of the recent cloudy and mild weather through Boxing Day with some fog patches first thing which will be slow to clear. Some brighter spells may develop in the east, with further drizzle over the Derbyshire hills. Maximum Temperature 10C.

Often cloudy and remaining on the mild side for many, although temperatures may dip to allow a slight grass frost under any lasting cloud breaks. Outbreaks of rain and drizzle will mainly affect the Peak District. Minimum Temperature 1C.

Damp and rather cloudy in many parts of the northwest especially, with extensive low cloud. Eastern parts will see the best of limited cloud breaks. Mild throughout, with light winds. Maximum Temperature 9C.

Saturday probably similarly rather cloudy and damp. Perhaps becoming a little brighter and breezier through Sunday, with Monday windier with a few further brighter spells. On the mild side.

Rain, stronger winds and some snow already across Scotland may on Tuesday become more severe and start to push southwards through the middle part of next week, bringing a chance of snow to other parts of the UK, along with colder conditions more widely. A period of more settled weather then seems probable later next week, with a gradual recovery in temperatures to nearer average for the time of year, perhaps even mild. Beyond this, a fairly changeable picture is most likely although confidence in details is, as usual at this range, very low. Wettest/windiest weather in the north and west, whilst the south and east will probably remain more settled overall.
